Becoming a Mom Pedagogue: Desire, Caring and Emancipation
Explore the rich and complex experiences of homeschooling mothers in this qualitative
study overview presented by Macy Halladay. We dive deep into the lives of six "Mom
Pedagogues" - mothers who balance the roles of parent and educator - and look at their
ideological convictions that influenced their decision to homeschool. Through the
data collected from 39 home visits, detailed interviews, and participant photographs,
we uncover how pivotal life moments shape their beliefs and teaching practices. This
research offers valuable insights into their dual identities and suggests impactful
changes in education.
Dr. Halladay will be presenting at FCS Policy Platter on September 25 from 12p to 1p. This is a hybrid event.
