Summary Statement

Dr. Ye Rang Park’s research focuses on promoting positive early childhood development by strengthening family relationships and improving parent well-being. In her research, she works closely with socioeconomically and marginalized families to understand family resilience and strength as a way to support families' coping with stress and positive parenting. Her past work also examined: 1) different parent factors (emotion regulation, sensitive scaffolding, and schema) influencing child self-regulation and socioemotional competence; and 2) promoting such positive factors through preventive interventions embedded in Early Head Start program. Using bioecological model, her recent work aims to identify other protective factors for positive development outside the home, such as school-home partnerships and neighborhood quality.
