Summary Statement


Vivekananda Das, PhD, investigates the role of public policy and emerging technologies in shaping people’s behavior, hardship, and well-being. He specializes in exploring causal questions using survey data and quasi-experimental methods. His research aims to generate insights that inform public policy interventions. 

 

His current research agenda centers around three primary areas: 

  • The effect of social safety net programs on economic hardship 
  • The impact of public policy on mental health 
  • The relationship between emerging financial technologies (Fintech) and financial well-being 

 

Additionally, he is passionate about communicating complex academic ideas in a down-to-earth manner to make them relevant and practically applicable to a broader population. He writes blog articles and creates video lectures on topics such as data literacy, data analysis, applied causal inference, human behavior, and well-being.
